Cancer is one of those scary realities that have touched all of us in one way or another, whether it’s a friend or family member, or a personal experience. Charities like Breast Cancer Care have done a fantastic job in recent years to educate the public and encourage us to seek help early. This, along with better treatments means that survival rates are higher than ever. That being said, there is still a massive job to be done in supporting those who are diagnosed. Dealing with cancer can be a notoriously lonely experience and charities offering advice and support throughout the process are vital.
When it comes to breast cancer, it’s believed that over 550,000 people are currently living with a diagnosis in the UK. 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime and the risk increases with age as 80% of all breast cancers occur in women over the age of 50. It’s not just the women who are at risk, a small percentage of men develop it too – somewhere around 400 men are diagnosed each year.
Pharmacies were identified as the ideal environment to reach a 50+ audience with health on their mind. Targeting 300 Pharmacies across the UK, Breast Cancer Care are using Pharmacy Bags to raise awareness about their free support line and encourage anyone dealing with a diagnosis to give one of their nurses a call. The media is an excellent one-to-one communication and the pharmacy space is ideal for a sensitive message like this. The campaign is running for 4 weeks from the 7th of September.
The campaign was planned and booked through Adgenda and Zone Outdoor.
