Breast Cancer Now is a charity supporting people experiencing breast cancer.
Whether that’s dealing with diagnosis, going through treatment, campaigning, fundraising or researching, Breast Cancer Now provides support services, treatment and specialist nurses to help people whenever they need it.
The Touch, Look, Check (TLC) campaign features branded pharmacy bags and information leaflets distributed in 375 Pharmacies, nationally over a period of 4 weeks. The bags encourage people to learn the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and to check themselves regularly, and to report any changes to their GP.
Pharmacies are an ideal environment to deliver sensitive messages, considering people’s minds are naturally on their health. The bags are placed directly into the hands of people collecting medication, acting as a prompt to discuss concerns with a trusted pharmacist.
Around 55,000 women and 370 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK.
Early diagnosis results in giving people the best possible outcome from treatment. The more people check themselves, the greater the likelihood of spotting signs early, allowing for more effective treatment.
375,000 pharmacy bags and 75,000 leaflets were distributed in total.
