In a world where the pace of life continues to ignite exponentially, there is a new generation of speed eating city workers that simply don’t have time to cook up a hot breakfast or sit down to a bowl of cereal and a leisurely read of the paper. This generation is all about instant gratification and breakfast on the go.

Coffee Shops and Cafes have a natural advantage when it comes to catering for the ‘Deskfast Generation’ offering a diverse array of simple, easy to grab and go brekkie options. Millennials have by far the biggest buy in with 23% aged 25-34 and 18% aged 16-24 choosing to deskfast at work every morning. This is all according to a Harris Interactive survey initiated by The Grocer this year.

Fruit (46%), yoghurt (44%) and cereal (39%) are favourites in terms of menu choice with toast (36%) and breakfast biscuits (35%) all tickling the tastebuds for deskfasters on the go. It’s clear why the convenience of Coffee Shops is proving a driving force behind the deskfaster’s environment of choice for that early morning grab and go bite to eat with their favourite bean or brew!
