One of the most exciting dates on the literary calendar has to be the award-winning Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Festival, now in its 15th year celebrating the best in crime fiction every July in the beautiful Yorkshire town of Harrogate.  It’s a festival that comes with high praise as “the best in the world” according to Lee Child who has “done them all” and has received international acclaim as the friendliest and most inclusive event on the literary circuit.

With such fun to be had and all the who’s who of the literary crime world in attendance, it’s no surprise that Penguin Random House enjoy using the opportunity to get a little creative and spread the word about their latest crime thrillers.  Back for another year, this time Penguin Random House are supporting two crime titles with advertising on takeaway Coffee Cups distributed in 10 Coffee Shops across Harrogate for 2 weeks to tie in with the Harrogate Literary Crime Festival.

The first of the PRH crime picks is The Marriage Pact by New York Times bestselling author, Michelle Richmond that begs the question, how far would you go to protect your marriage?  It’s an intense and shocking story full of all the best kind of suspense.  And the second of PRH’s crime thrillers is Sunday Times Bestseller, Tim Weaver’s latest in the David Raker missing persons series, I Am Missing which promises a brilliant twist to a murderous tale.

There is such a lovely synergy between coffee and books, both moments we steal during the day for a bit of me time and escape from the daily humdrum.  Advertising on Coffee Cups is the perfect opportunity for publishers to reach consumers who are in a relaxed, receptive frame of mind with the time to spare to investigate a new book online, read a chapter sample or pop into a local bookstore to make a purchase.
